In keeping with our focus on holistic wellness modalities, Pranada Wellness Center is unveiling a new series of educational and virtual program offerings under the category of “Women and Wellness for a Healthy and Happy Society.” Women’s health has long been a topic of discussion and consideration at both the Temple of Compassion women’s ashram and the Pranada Wellness Center, so we are delighted to now be taking the first steps toward real progress on this topic.
Throughout his divine life, Shri Gurudev saw the need for increased attention to the spiritual and physical needs of women, and he helped many women to break through both the real and the imagined barriers that kept them from realizing their true potential. It is fitting that these offerings are coming to fruition just as we embark on the 2024 celebration “Commemorating Fifty Years of Shri Gurudev in the West.”
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The “Women and Wellness” category of activities will make its debut in October 2023, during the traditional, high-profile, pink-ribbon, breast cancer “awareness” campaigns marketed by proponents of allopathic medicine. According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the world.
- On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States. (American Cancer Society)
- 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. (American Cancer Society)
- In 2020, approximately 2.3 million women were diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 685,000 women died of breast cancer. (World Health Organization)
- Roughly half of all women diagnosed with breast cancer have no known risk factors putting them at increased risk of cancer. Thus, screening and prevention are critical for everyone. (World Health Organization)
- In the United States, five-year survival is 99% for women whose breast cancer is detected early, but only 31% for women whose cancer is detected in late stages. (World Health Organization)
Pranada Wellness Center will supplement the traditional discussions by introducing alternatives and non-traditional approaches to both detection and cure. We plan to provide this information through educational materials, virtual programs, and in-person events.
Educational Materials Will Be Made Available on Our Blog
- Breast cancer statistics and breast health education
- The importance of screening and early detection
- Information about prevention
- Information on improving overall health and wellness
Virtual Programs
Pranada Wellness Center will be offering a series of talks in October introducing the women’s health initiative, educational information about breast cancer statistics, prevention, and screening. We will also offer a virtual program about Ayurvedic and other holistic perspectives on breast cancer prevention and women’s health in general.

Awareness Programs in India
Breast cancer is on the rise, both in rural and urban India. The survival rates of breast cancer in India are low because the detection takes place late. The best way to change these numbers is by increasing awareness. In order to raise awareness about the impact of breast cancer, Pranada Wellness Center is partnering with Jnanaprabha Mission to offer 15 Awareness Programs throughout Odisha in September and October, culminating in a larger event in Bhubaneswar in October.
Please join us in supporting women’s health and wellness and stay tuned for further details coming soon.
